My Big Trip to Mount Wuquan!
Wow! I just got back from the coolest trip ever! Last week, my cousin Xiao Ming started college as a freshman at Xinjiang University. His parents were so proud of him for getting into such a good school. As a celebration, his whole family decided to go on a hiking trip to the famous Mount Wuquan before classes started. I was so lucky they invited me to come along too! Mount Wuquan is a really pretty mountain range near the city of Urumqi in the Xinjiang province of northwest China. It's called the \"Frozen Scenery\" because there is snow and ice on the peaks all year round, even in summer! The drive there from Urumqi took almost two hours. I could hardly wait to start our big adventure.
When we finally made it to the mountain base, our tour guide Leo met us. He was a funny older man with a round belly who loved joking around. Leo said to get ready because we had a
really long hike ahead of us. I wasn't scared at all though - I'm a great hiker! My little legs are super strong.
We started trekking up the mountain path. At first, it was just a gentle uphill slope through some pine forests. Easy peasy! Leo would stop every little bit to tell us cool facts about the plants and animals that lived on Mount Wuquan. Did you know there are super cute furry squirrels called Pere David's Rock Squirrels that live there? They have white and brown fur and huge bushy tails. I tried so hard to spot one, but no luck.
As we hiked higher up, the path got steeper and it started getting colder. Soon we were high enough that there were patches of snow and ice on the ground! My cousin Xiao Ming and I had a mini snowball fight until our moms yelled at us to cut it out. We didn't want to slip and go tumbling down the mountain! That wouldn't be fun at all.
Around lunchtime, we stopped at a pretty flat area to eat our packed lunches. My mom had made my favorite - pork and veggie dumplings! We sat on some rocks and I got to munch my dumplings while staring at the incredible views. You could see the whole Urumqi valley stretched out below us. It looked like a puny little town from way up there!
After hiking for what felt like forever, we finally made it to the Glacier No. 1 scenic area at 3500 meters high. That's over 11,000 feet up! As we turned the final corner, the entire glacier came into view. It was sooooo humongous and sparkly! The bright white ice looked almost blue in some spots. Leo told us that Glacier No. 1 is the main glacier on Mount Wuquan at over 4 miles long. He said millions of years ago, the whole area was covered in thick ice before it melted and left just that one big glacier behind. Isn't that crazy?!
We pulled out our crampons (which are spiky boots that dig into the ice so you don't slip) and hiked out further onto the glacier itself. I thought it would feel slippery, but it was actually kind of bumpy because the ice forms grooves and ridges. We definitely couldn't have walked on it without our special boots! The glacier made these super cool groaning sounds as it shifted and creaked. Leo said that was because the ice was so thick and heavy that it was constantly moving and buckling. He pointed out bright blue pools and streams of glacier meltwater cutting through the ice. Xiao Ming and I even got to drink some of the freezing cold meltwater running down the mountainside. It tasted so fresh and crisp - like nothing I'd ever tasted before!
After exploring the glacier for a while, we started the very long trek back down the mountain before it got dark. My legs were already pretty tired from all the uphill hiking, but the downhill parts were actually harder! It took a lot of effort to bend my knees and lean backwards so I didn't go tumbling forwards. A few times I totally ate it and went sliding down on my butt, haha! Good thing I was wearing my waterproof snow pants.
We finally made it back to the base as the sun was setting over Mount Wuquan. I was absolutely exhausted, but it was worth every single step. Climbing up that huge glacier was just about the most amazing thing I've ever done! Xiao Ming and I have been begging our parents to take us back to Mount Wuquan again soon so we can try some other trails. I really hope they say yes because I'm already counting down the days until my next glacier adventure!

My Awesome Trip to Mount Wuquan!
Hey everyone! I'm so excited to tell you all about the supercool trip I just went on with my university. I'm a freshman and we had a welcome event where all the new students went to
hike up Mount Wuquan. It was my first time going on a trip like this and it was honestly the best few days ever!
On the first day, we all met up really early in the morning on campus. There were so many new people to meet! I made a few friends on the bus ride over to the mountain. Their names were Emily, Jake, and Sophia. Emily was really nice and liked all the same games and snacks as me. Jake was pretty funny and kept cracking jokes the whole way there. Sophia was kind of shy at first but opened up after awhile.
When we got to the bottom of the mountain, our tour guides split us up into smaller groups with some senior students as leaders. The senior students were really cool and taught us some hiking tips before we set off. Like how to pace ourselves, what supplies to bring, and safety rules. I was feeling just a little nervous since I had never really gone on a serious hike before. But the seniors made me feel better and said we'd all stick together.
Then it was time to start climbing! The first part of the trail was pretty easy, just some gradual inclines. We stopped a few times to learn some cool facts about the mountain from the seniors. Like how Mount Wuquan has been a famous hiking and relaxation spot for hundreds of years. And how the scenery is
gorgeous with tall trees, babbling streams, and beautiful rock formations. I could definitely see why people liked coming here so much!
As we climbed higher, the trail started getting trickier. There were some really steep sections and rocks to scramble over. A few times I started feeling tired and my legs were getting sore. But everyone was so encouraging, letting me set the pace and cheering me on. We'd take little snack breaks too which re-energized me. I'm so glad I had Emily, Jake, Sophia and the others by my side!
Finally after a few hours of hiking, we reached one of the peaks! We had an amazing view from the summit of the lush green mountain valleys all around us. I had never seen anything like it before. Emily and I looked for cool shapes in the clouds while Jake did some funny posed pictures. We all felt so proud that we'd made it to the top through our teamwork.
Then it was time to head back down, which I thought would be a total breeze. But whoa, was I wrong about that! Going downhill was actuallywayharder than going up in some ways. We had to take it super slow and watch every single step so we didn't slip or stumble. My legs were like jelly after awhile from all the careful stair-steps. The seniors were great though and always
stood behind us just in case anyone needed to take a break or lost their footing.
At last, many hours later, we finally made it back down to the bottom. I was absolutely exhausted but so incredibly happy. I had climbed my first real mountain! We headed to the dining area and feasted on a delicious dinner that tasted even better after our long hike. Then we set up our tents for the night in a huge camping area right by the trailhead. Emily and I were tent-mates along with two other girls. We stayed up way later than we should have, whispering stories and giggling about all the funny moments from the day.
The next morning after breakfast, we had some more activities planned around the base area. Like a mini skills course where we learned basics like tying knots, reading maps and compasses, and identifying edible plants. We also went on a little nature hike and saw some incredible waterfalls and ancient trees up close. I felt like a real explorer!
Too soon, it was time to head back to campus. I was kind of sad to leave behind the peaceful mountain scenes. But I had made so many great new friends and unforgettable memories. We exchanged social media handles on the bus and promised to
stay in touch. Emily, Jake, Sophia and I are actually already planning our next adventure together!
This freshman welcome trip definitely stretched me out of my comfort zone. But I'm so glad I went and gave it my all. I feel like a stronger, more confident person now after climbing an actual mountain with my own two feet. Thanks Mount Wuquan for the awesomechallenging yet amazing experience! I'll never forget this trip and can't wait for more to come.

My Big Adventure at Wuquan Mountain!
Wow, you guys! I just got back from the coolest trip ever. My university took all the new freshmen to Wuquan Mountain for a few days. It was seriously epic! Let me tell you all about it. We left bright and early on a big tour bus. I had never been on a bus that big before! There were tons of other kids from my school there too. I made some new friends right away by asking who liked Pokémon and playing the trading card game on the bus. The ride took forever though - like 4 whole hours! I had to go to the bathroom so bad by the time we got there.
When we finally arrived, the first thing I noticed was how crazy tall the mountain was. It was just shooting way up into the
sky! Our tour guides told us Wuquan Mountain is one of the highest mountains in all of Hunan Province at 1,975 meters (that's almost 2 kilometers HIGH!). They said we'd be hiking partway up the mountain to sleep in these cool base camps they had set up. I was starting to get a little nervous at that point because I've never hiked up a real mountain before. But I didn't want to look like a big baby in front of my new friends, so I acted all brave and confident.
The hike was NO JOKE you guys. We were climbing up this steep rocky path full of twists and turns. My legs were burning like crazy and I was sweating like a pig up that mountain! A couple times I actually thought I might pass out or puke. But our guides kept giving us snack breaks with trail mix and water, which helped me catch my breath. Even though it was exhausting, I loved looking out over the incredible views - you could see for miles and miles in every direction! It felt like we were on top of the world.
After what felt like forever, we finally made it to the first base camp around mid-day. I crashed onto the ground basically dying, I was so tired. But it was beautiful up there. We were surrounded by tons of tall trees and forests. The guides said Wuquan Mountain has amazing biodiversity too, with over 2,000 species
of plants and animals living up there! That night we had a campfire, roasted marshmallows, and slept out under the bright starry night sky. Seeing that many stars was just mind-blowing. The next morning, bright and early, we had a quick breakfast and then started hiking again to go higher up the mountain. I thought I was going to die - my whole body was sore from the hike the day before! But eventually I got my second wind and the hike that day wasn't quite as hard as the first day. We stopped about halfway up the mountain at another base camp.
This camp was next to the craziest frozen waterfall I've ever seen! The waterfall was all iced over and rippled like waves. Our guides told us it looks like that every winter when the waterfalls freeze over along that part of the mountain. We got to go actually walk behind the frozen waterfall and check it out up close, which was amazing and a little scary if I'm being honest. Icicles were falling down everywhere! But it looked like something straight out of a fantasy movie. That night we had another campfire, but this time we got to learn some wilderness survival skills like how to make fire without matches and find safe drinking water. It was really cool.
On our final day, we just had a short morning hike back down the start of the mountain to catch our bus ride home. I was
kind of glad because my body was wrecked at that point! But I also didn't want to leave. Those few days were just such an awesome adventure.
I couldn't believe I actually hiked pretty far up a huge mountain like Wuquan! When I was a little kid, a trip like this seemed impossible. But thanks to going away to university, I got to experience the great outdoors in such an epic way. I made a ton of new friends, learned wilderness skills, saw incredible views, and got crazy exercise to boot. I'm never going to forget my first bonding trip as a freshman to Wuquan Mountain. It was the experience of a lifetime! I'm definitely going to keep on hiking and exploring the outdoors whenever I can now. Who knows, maybe I'll even climb all the way to the top of Wuquan Mountain before I graduate!

My Big Adventure to Wuquan Mountain!
Wow, you won't believe the amazing trip I just went on! It was so awesome and exciting. Let me tell you all about it! A few weeks ago, my teacher told our class that all the new university freshmen were going on a trip to Wuquan Mountain. I had never been on a trip that far away from home before, so I
was really looking forward to it. My mom helped me pack a big backpack with clothes, snacks, my camera, and other stuff I would need. I could hardly sleep the night before because I was so excited!
Early the next morning, we all met on the school playground and boarded these huge buses to take us to the mountain. The drive took forever - we were on the bus for almost three hours! I looked out the window the whole time, watching the city turn into countryside. Some of my friends fell asleep but I was too amped up.
Finally, we made it to Wuquan Mountain. As soon as I stepped off the bus, I could smell the fresh, clean air. The sky was so blue and the trees were so green and tall. Our guide told us Wuquan Mountain is one of the most famous scenic spots in the whole country because of how pretty and unspoiled the nature is. He said we were really lucky to get to visit.
First up, we had to hike up to the top of the mountain where we would be camping. The trail was pretty steep in some parts and my legs got super tired. But I pushed myself and made it all the way there! When we reached the top, the view was
breathtaking. You could see for miles and miles in every direction. Majestic peaks jutted up all around us. Our guide said on a really
clear day, you can even see the ocean from up there! How crazy is that?
Once we got our tents all set up at the campsite, we had a little free time to explore around. Me and my buddies wandered off the trail a bit to check out a cool little stream and waterfall we saw. We tossed rocks into the crystal clear water and watched fish darting around. Everything was just so pristine and beautiful. Back home, the parks and streams are nothing like that. For dinner, the camping staff cooked us a delicious meal over the campfire - chicken skewers, veggies, rice, and hot tea. As we ate, they told us spooky stories about ghosts and
monsters that are said to live deep in the mountains. Some of the stories were pretty scary but I tried to act brave in front of my friends. Though to be honest, I was a little spooked when we heard some eerie howling noises coming from the forest that night!
We had an awesome time camping out under the stars. Our guide pointed out all the different constellations and taught us so much about nature and wildlife. He showed us which plants were edible and which were poisonous. He taught us useful survival skills like how to build a fire, set up a shelter, and find safe drinking water. It was like a real life adventure movie!
The next morning after we packed up camp, we went on a really cool descent down the other side of the mountain. The trail was way less steep but it zigged and zagged like crazy. We crossed over crazy suspension bridges high above rushing rivers and climbed through narrow crevices in the rocks. My favorite part was coming across the hidden grotto - a magical cave behind a small waterfall where sunlight filtered in through an opening in the rocks. It felt like being in a secret clubhouse. After a whole day of hiking, we finally made it back down to the base of the mountain. I was exhausted but happy. We all gathered together for a picnic lunch and our guide announced some award winners from the trip. I got the \"Bravest Hiker\" award because I didn't complain once during our long trek, even though my feet were killing me! I was pretty proud of myself. On the bus ride home, I stared out the window reminiscing about our awesome Wuquan Mountain adventure. I couldn't wait to show my family all the pictures and videos I took. Maybe they'll even let me go back there for a camping trip with them sometime. This trip gave me so many amazing memories that I'll never forget. I feel like I learned so much and became a little more grown up too. Thanks Wuquan Mountain - I can't wait for my next big adventure!

My Big Adventure to Five Spring Mountain
Wow, did I have an awesome adventure this weekend! I'm a freshman in college now, and my new school organized a big trip for all the first-year students to go to Five Spring Mountain. I was so excited, because I had never been to a real mountain before! We all met up super early on Saturday morning to take the buses to the mountain. It was about a two hour drive from campus. I sat next to my new friend Lily on the bus. We were trying to stay awake by playing \"I Spy\" out the window as the city turned into countryside. After a while, we could see the huge mountain in the distance getting closer and closer. Five Spring Mountain is one of the biggest mountains in our province. My heart was racing with anticipation!
When we finally arrived, our tour guides told us we would be hiking up part of the mountain, having a picnic lunch at the top, and then coming back down before dark. They handed out boxed lunches to everybody. I got a yummy vegetable fried rice with some fresh fruit. We lathered up with sunscreen and got our backpacks and water bottles ready. Then it was time to start climbing!
The first part of the hike was pretty easy. The path was nice and flat, winding through some pretty bamboo forests. Lily and I were chatting away about our favorite movies and video games to pass the time. We heard birds chirping all around us. After about an hour, the trail started getting steeper. My legs were definitely feeling the burn! A few of the guys in our group looked like they were struggling too and had to take some breaks. I just focused on taking it slow and steady.
Eventually, we came to some rugged rocky areas where we had to do some actual rock climbing with ropes and harnesses. That part was kind of scary at first, but also really fun and exciting! The views were getting more and more incredible the higher we went. I could see bright green trees and little waterfalls below us when I looked over my shoulder. The guides encouraged us to take in the beautiful scenery whenever we needed a breather from climbing.
At last, after what felt like forever, we reached the peak! We had made it to the top of Five Spring Mountain. I was covered in sweat but grinning from ear to ear. The 360 degree views from up there were just mind-blowing. Endless mountains and valleys stretched out in every direction as far as the eye could see. I had never experienced anything like it before in my life! We all sat
down on some big flat rocks and ate the lunches we had packed. My fried rice had never tasted so satisfying.
Lily and I explored around the peak area a little bit, checking out some ancient Buddhist carvings in the rock cliffs. A couple of the guys from our group even did some hilarious posed photos pretending to be powerful kung fu masters. I have a really funny picture on my phone of them doing over-the-top karate moves on the edge of the cliff. We were laughing so hard my stomach hurt!
After resting for about an hour and a half, it was time to start heading back down the mountain before it got too late. I wasn't looking forward to the descent, because that's when it would really be tough on my legs. Sure enough, going down was super hard! We had to take it very slow and careful to avoid slipping and falling on the steep rocky parts. My thighs and calves were burning like crazy by the end. A few people in our group got scratched up or twisted their ankles a little bit. But our guides had a first aid kit and thankfully nobody got seriously hurt. Finally, we made it back down to the entrance area as the sun was starting to set over the mountain peaks. I have never felt sweatier, dirtier, or more exhausted in my whole life! But I also felt such an amazing sense of accomplishment. I did something
truly epic for my very first time. I conquered one of the biggest mountains around! On the bus ride back to campus, I must have drank about five bottles of water. My body felt like a wrung out sponge.
When we got back to school, all I wanted to do was take the longest, hottest shower ever and then faceplant into my bed. But it was so worth every bit of struggle and exhaustion to
experience the incredible natural beauty of Five Spring Mountain. That trip made me feel capable of anything. If I can scale a massive mountain as a tiny freshman in college, what OTHER challenges can I overcome in the years ahead? The breathtaking views and sense of accomplishment will stick with me forever. I'm so grateful my university planned such an amazing adventure to welcome the new students. This was just the beginning of my journey, and I can't wait to see what awesome experiences are still to come!
