On University Tuition System

Recently, there has been a heated discussion about the tuition system in China.Some people believe that the tuition system has been beneficial to the country since it was put into effect, while other people are strongly opposed to it.

People who believe in the beneficial side of university tuition system may have their own arguments.First of all,as a developing country with a large population, China is unable to allocate enough funds to pay for various teaching facilities and many kinds of expenses. In addition, it is unknown that there is university in the world which offers free education to students.

By contrast, some people think that there may be more negative effects in the tuition system. For one thing,the living standard of the Chinese people, especially of those in the rural areas, is still low. The soaring university tuition will become a heavy burden to parents. Secondly, high tuition will hinder some talented students from entering the university and so become an obstacle to the development of China's higher education. Even worse, some irresponsible universities may take the advantage of the policy to gain profit, which will do harm to both the country and the students concerned.

As each coin has two sides, there is no exception with university tuition system. As far as I am concerned,the government should revise loan policy, from which more students will benefit. As for students, they should renew their thinking about tuition and learn to pay part of it through their own effort.
