My Family's Birthdays
Birthdays are really exciting in my family! We always have parties, get presents, and eat delicious cake. I can't wait to tell you about all of the birthday celebrations we have throughout the year.
My dad's birthday is on January 5th, so it's one of the first birthdays we celebrate each year. Last year for his birthday, we had a big superhero-themed party because my dad loves comic books and superhero movies. We decorated the house with Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man stuff. My mom made a giant cake that looked like the Batmobile! It was so cool. For dinner, we ordered pizza because that's my dad's favorite food. After we ate, we played fun games like \"Pin the Mask on the Superhero.\" My little brother somehow managed to pin the mask right on Aquaman's crotch, which made us all laugh really hard. My mom's birthday is next on February 22nd. For her birthday last year, we did a spa day at home. We set up stations all around the house with different pampering treatments. My little brother Tommy's birthday is on April 18th. Since he just turned 6 years old this year, we had a dinosaur-themed party for him. We decorated with dinosaur balloons, dino party hats, fossils, and volcanoes made out of paper mache. My mom made a three-layer cake with thick green icing on the outside to look like dinosaur scales, and there were dinosaur figures all over the cake. It looked almost too cool to eat...but of course we ate it anyway! For food we had dino nuggets, fossil crackers with
cheese dip, and veggie plates decorated like the volcanic eruption. Some of Tommy's friends came over and they played pin-the-tooth-on-the-T-Rex, did a dino egg hunt, and we all made our own little dinosaur worlds out of clay. At the end, Tommy got to open a mountain of dinosaur presents - he got dinosaur puzzles, books, stuffed animals, action figures, and movies. He was in total dino heaven!
My birthday is last - it's on September 23rd. For my 10th birthday party this year, the theme was mermaids and unicorns. We had an arts and crafts station set up where my friends could decorate unicorn and mermaid figures and picture frames with glitter, sequins, stickers and markers. There were also color sheets and scratch art pictures. For games, we played \"Pin the Horn on the Unicorn\" and went on a mermaid treasure hunt where we searched for seashells with clues inside. My mom made the most magical cake - it was a unicorn cake with a golden horn made of chocolate that stuck out of the top, and it had an edible flower mane. The cake itself was a funfetti flavor, which is my absolute favorite. On top of the cake it said \"Happy 10th Birthday Mermaid Princess!\" in pink frosting. The cake tasted as incredible as it looked. My friends and I ate so much of it, we had tummy aches later! I got lots of cool presents like mermaid tail blankets, unicorn bathrobes, mermaid and unicorn
books, bath bombs, and craft kits. I felt like a real mystical creature at my party.
Those are all of the birthday parties we've had so far this year. But the celebrations aren't over yet! My grandma's 70th birthday is coming up on November 12th. We're planning a really big surprise party for her. We rented out a room at her favorite restaurant and invited all of her friends and family members from out of town. We can't wait to see the look on her face when she walks through the door and everyone yells \"Surprise!\" For her birthday cake, we ordered a massive three-tier chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and fresh strawberries on top. We can't wait to sing happy birthday to her and watch her blow out all those candles. I hope grandma has the best 70th birthday ever!
So as you can see, birthdays are a huge deal in my family. We love to celebrate everyone's special day with fun themes, decorations, games, and of course lots and lots of cake. From superheroes to dinosaurs to unicorns and mermaids, we've had such creative parties so far. And there's still my grandma's big 70th coming up later this year! I feel so lucky to have a family that makes birthdays so exciting and memorable. I can't wait to see what amazing party themes we'll come up with next year.

My Family's Birthdays
Hi there! My name is Alex and I'm a 5th grader at Oak Grove Elementary School. Today I want to tell you all about the different birthdays in my family. We really love celebrating birthdays and having parties with cake, presents, balloons, and all the fun stuff. Every year it's exciting counting down to each person's special day.
I'll start with my own birthday first. I was born on May 22nd, so my birthday is right at the end of the school year. I really like having a late spring/early summer birthday because the weather is usually nice and warm. For my birthday parties, we'll often have a backyard barbecue or go to the pool or beach if it's hot enough. My favorite birthday cake is chocolate with chocolate frosting. Yum!
My little sister Emily's birthday is on November 10th. Even though it's in the fall, her birthday is still pretty fun. We'll decorate the house with autumn colors and leaves. One year we
had a pumpkin-themed party complete with pumpkin-shaped cookies, a pumpkin piñata, and pumpkin carving. Emily's favorite cake is funfetti with bright colorful sprinkles on top.
Now let me tell you about my parents' birthdays. My mom's birthday is January 3rd, so it's right after the Christmas and New Year's holidays. For her birthday, we keep our Christmas decorations up a little longer. One year my dad hired a singer to come perform traditional birthday songs. What about the grandparents? Well, my mom's mom (my grandma) has a birthday on March 28th. For grandma, we love throwing garden-themed parties because she's an amazing gardener. We give her seeds, plants, or gardening tools as gifts. Her favorite is carrot cake, of course!
My mom's dad (grandpa) has an October 5th birthday. Since his birthday is in the fall, we go all out with autumn themes like
hay rides, apple bobbing, and caramel apples. His favorite is a nice spice cake with cream cheese frosting. Sometimes we get him a pie instead of cake.
Lastly, my dad's parents have birthdays very close together. My other grandma was born on April 17th and my other grandpa was born on April 21st, just a few days apart! For their birthdays, we combine them into one big double celebration every April. One year we surprised them with a childhood games and snacks theme - we had a pogo stick contest, jacks tournament, and served up snacks like pretzel sticks and orange drinks. Grandma's favorite is a light and fruity cake like lemon or strawberry, while Grandpa goes for a rich chocolate overload cake.
Phew, that's everybody! As you can see, we have a lot of fun birthdays spread throughout the whole year in my family. I love the anticipation of counting down to the next one on the calendar. My Family's Birthdays
Do you know when your family members' birthdays are? Birthdays are really important days to celebrate the people we love! In my family, we have a bunch of different birthdays throughout the year. I'm going to tell you all about them. My dad's birthday is January 18th. He'll be turning 42 years old this year! For his birthday, we usually make him his favorite dessert, which is a big chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. My mom makes the best chocolate cakes. We also get him presents - last year I got him a new coffee mug with a funny joke on it because he loves drinking coffee in the mornings before work. My little brother Sam's birthday is next on February 22nd. He's going to be 7 this year! Sam always wants to have a big birthday party with a bounce house and all his friends from school. We do present opening in the morning, then have the party in the afternoon. One year we had it at a trampoline park and that was really fun! For his present last year, I got him a big tub of Legos because he's obsessed with building things. After Sam's birthday, it's my mom's turn on April 9th. She'll be 39 this year. Then it's my grandma's birthday on May 28th. She's going to be 67 this year! My grandma lives a few hours away, so
sometimes we have to celebrate her birthday a little bit late when we can all get together. We'll have a big family dinner with all her kids (my aunts and uncles) and all her grandkids (me and my cousins). She loves getting handmade cards from all of us. One year, I made her a friendship bracelet with her favorite colors. There's a little break after Grandma's birthday until my aunt Laura's birthday on August 15th. She'll be 34. My aunt doesn't have any kids yet, so we just get together with my parents, aunt, uncle, and grandparents for dinner on her birthday. I always try to find her a really funny birthday card because she has a great sense of humor!
My birthday is next on September 20th, and I'll be turning 11 this year! For my birthday, I love having a sleepover with all my best friends. We'll order pizza, eat way too much cake and candy, and stay up as late as we're allowed watching movies. My friends and I also do a big present exchange - I can't wait to see what they get me this year! Last year I got some awesome new video games.
Only a few weeks after my birthday is my uncle Mike's on October 5th. He's going to be 40 this year. Uncle Mike is really into watching and playing sports, so we usually get him
something sporty for his birthday like tickets to a baseball game. One year, my parents got him a whole bunch of his favorite team's gear like jerseys, hats, and bobbleheads.
The very last birthday of the year in my family is my cousin Lily's on November 24th. She's going to be 9 years old! My aunt and uncle usually have a little party for her with just our grandparents, my family, and a few of Lily's friends. We'll make her a fancy cake with her name on it and she gets to pick all her favorite foods for dinner that night.

My Family's Birthdays
Birthdays are the best! They're a time to celebrate the day you were born, eat lots of yummy cake, open presents, and have fun with your family and friends. My family goes all out for birthdays – we have big parties, make special treats, and sometimes even go on little trips. I love all the fuss and excitement around birthdays!
My mom's birthday is in January, right after the Christmas and New Year holidays. On her last birthday, she turned 38 years old. For her party, we had a fancy dinner at her favorite Italian restaurant downtown. She got all dressed up and everything. I gave her a necklace I made in art class, and my dad got her a new purse she'd been wanting. After dinner, we went back to our house and had an ice cream cake from her favorite bakery. It was chocolate with raspberry swirl and sprinkles on top – so good! My little sister Lily's birthday is next, in early March. She just turned 7 this year. For her party, we had a bunch of her friends from school and dance class over to our house. My parents set up a little arts and crafts station in the playroom with all kinds of supplies to make pictures, jewelry, and other fun projects. Lily also wanted to do a science experiment, so we made some homemade slime! It was really messy but also really cool. After arts and crafts time, we had a unicorn-themed cake and icecream,

Then in late April, it's my dad's turn to celebrate his birthday. He turned 40 this year, which is a big milestone! To celebrate, we went on a weekend camping trip to the mountains. We hiked during the day, had campfires and s'mores at night, and Dad got to pick all his favorite camp meals. On his actual birthday, we had a little cake that my mom baked over the campfire and sang happy birthday around the fire. It was such a fun weekend in the great outdoors! My birthday is in July, right in the middle of summer break from school. I'll be turning 11 this year – I can't believe I'll be in the double digits! For my birthday, we usually go to the lake or beach for a weekend getaway. Last year, we rented a beach house and went swimming, played mini golf, and had a bonfire on the beach at night. My parents went all out decorating the backyard to look super spooky. We had dry ice in the punch for a smoky effect, glow sticks everywhere, and halloween music playing. Jake's friends all came over in crazy costumes - there were aliens, zombies, vampires, you name it! We played games like mummy bowling and had a contest for best costume. At midnight, we lit a bonfire and roasted s'mores. Jake got some video games and sports equipment from our parents for his birthday.
Those are all the birthdays in my family! As you can see, we really go overboard celebrating each person's special day. Birthdays are a huge deal in our household and we look forward to them all year long. I can't wait for my 11th birthday this summer - I'm already making my wishlist! Getting older isn't so bad when you get to have amazing birthday parties and be surrounded by the people you love most.

My Family's Birthdays
Birthdays are really important in my family. We always have big celebrations and lots of fun when someone has their birthday. I'm going to tell you all about the different birthdays and when they happen during the year.
My dad's birthday is first. His birthday is on January 14th. That means his birthday is just a couple weeks after the new year and Christmas. For his birthday, we always have his favorite dinner which is steak, mashed potatoes, and veggies. Then for dessert it's ice cream cake! He loves ice cream cake. In the morning before he goes to work, we sing happy birthday and he opens presents from me, my mom, and my little brother. Lately for his present I've been making him things in my art class at school. One year I made him a clay sculpture of our dog.
Next is my little brother Tommy's birthday. His birthday is on March 5th, so it's right before spring starts. Tommy just turned 7 years old this year. For his birthday, he always wants to have a big party and invites all his friends from school and kids from our neighborhood. We have the party at a place like a trampoline park or an arcade. Tommy's favorite cake is funfetti with lots of
rainbow sprinkles. He goes crazy ripping into all his presents, he gets so excited. This year for his present I got him the new Rockets video game he's been wanting.
After Tommy's birthday, it's a couple months before my mom's birthday. Her birthday is on May 22nd. For her birthday, she likes to keep things pretty low-key and relaxed. We'll usually just order food from her favorite Italian restaurant for dinner. And then she always wants a super chocolatey cake or brownie sundae type of dessert. For her present, I try to make her something creative and personal. Like one year I framed some pictures of our family and put them in a cool collage frame. Mom seems to appreciate that kind of gift the most.
Next up is my birthday! I'm so excited because my 11th birthday is coming up soon on July 7th. I'm already making a big list of everything I want - new video games, Legos, art supplies, gift cards, you name it! For my birthday, I always have a pool party and sleepover with 4 or 5 of my closest friends. We'll swim, play games, eat junk food, and stay up all night. My ideal birthday cake would be a cookies and cream ice cream cake, but I'll take anything as long as it has lots of sugary frosting. I can't wait for my big day!
After all the summer birthdays are done, the next one isn't until the fall. My uncle Jerry's birthday is on September 19th. Uncle Jerry is my dad's brother and he's kind of a goofy, quirky guy. For his birthday, we don't really do too much - maybe just have him over for a chill dinner and give him a few gag gifts to embarrass him. Like one year we got him socks with his face printed all over them. He's a pretty easy-going guy so he thought it was hilarious.
The final birthday of the year is my grandpa's. His birthday lands on November 28th, just a few days after Thanksgiving. Grandpa is getting pretty old now, so we keep his birthday simple. We'll maybe take him out for an early dinner to one of those old-school diners or steakhouses he likes. And then just hang out at his house, watch some TV, and have a small cake or pie for dessert. I usually just get him a basic gift like some new pajamas or something since he's easy to shop for at his age. So those are all the family birthdays throughout the year! January, March, May, July, September and November - we're pretty spread out. It does mean we're constantly celebrating something though which I think is fun. After breakfast, we give him his presents. One year, we got him a new set of golf clubs because he loves playing golf with his friends on the weekends. Another year, we got him a fancy new grill for the backyard because he's the king of barbecues! No matter what the present is, he always gets so excited and acts like a little kid on Christmas morning.
