In our life

In our life, some of us have rarely(很少) expressed our gratitude(感激) to those who have lived with us these years. In fact, we don’t have to wait for a special time to thank the ones closest to us. If you have learned anything about giving thanks, it should be this: give it now! Saying thanks is such an easy way to add happiness to the world.

Saying thanks not only brightens(使明亮) someone else’s world, but also brightens yours.

Of course, sometimes you can’t express gratitude immediately. In that case, don’t fall into silence – speak up the first time you have a chance.

Once a young man, Mark Brian, was sent to a village of India. The Indians, he had been told, did not have a word for “thank you”. But Brian soon found that those people expressed their gratitude in other ways. Instead of saying thanks, it is their custom(习俗) to return every favor(好意) with a favor of their own, and every kindness with the same or more kindness. They did express their thanks.

I wonder if we had no words in our vocabulary for “thank you”. Would we do the better job of communicating our gratitude? Would we be more responsive(热情的), more sensitive(体贴的) and more caring?

Thankfulness can be transferred(传递) among people all around us – including ourselves, because no one ever misunderstands(误解) a thankful heart(心).
