七、阅读理解。(每题2分,共20分)
A
Body language is the quiet, secret and most powerful language of all! It is said that our body movements communicate about 50 percent of what we really mean while words only express 7 percent. So, while your mouth is closed, your body is just saying.
Arms. How you hold your arms shows how open and receptive you are to people you meet. If you keep your arms to the sides of your body or behind your back, this suggests you are not afraid of taking on whatever comes your way. Outgoing people generally use their arms with big movements, while quieter people keep them close to their bodies. If someone upsets you, just cross your arms to show you’re unhappy.
Head. When you want to appear confident, keep your head level. If you are a monitor in class, you can also take on this position when you want your words to be taken seriously. However, to be friendly in listening or speaking, you must move your head a little.
Legs. Your legs tend to move around a lot more than normal when you are nervous or telling lies. If you are at interviews, try to keep them still.
Posture (姿势). A good posture makes you feel better about yourself. If you are feeling down you normally don’t sit straight, with your shoulders inwards. This makes breathing more difficult, which can make you feel nervous or uncomfortable.
Mouth. When you are thinking, you often purse your lips. You might also use this position to hold back an angry comment you don’t wish to show. However, it will probably still be noticed, and people will know you’re not pleased.
Face. When you lie, you might put on a false face. But that expression would crack briefly,
allowing displays of true emotions such as happiness, sadness, disgust (厌恶) and fear to come through.
76. When someone is keeping his arms behind his back, he tries to tell you that ______.
A. he is not afraid B. he is outgoing C. he is angry D. he is cool 77. If you want to appear confident, you should ______.
A. move your arms a lot B. cross your arms C. move your head a little D. keep your head level 78. Which of the following can be the best title of the passage?
A. Body language, the most commonly used language B. Body movements give away secrets of mind C. Arms tell more than legs
D. Facial expressions tell the truth
B
There is a saying: “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper (穷人).” This means that breakfast should be the largest meal of your day. However, in many countries, the biggest meal of the day is dinner.
Although health experts stress (强调) the importance of eating a good breakfast and having one’s main meal earlier in the day, not many people are changing their daily eating habits. In the US, for example, about two-thirds of the population still has its main meal in the evening. Many of the most popular types of American food, such as steak and potatoes, are full of fat and carbohydrates, which make them slow to digest (消化), and fattening.
In Mexico, the most important meal for many families is usually eaten at 2:00 Pm. The comida, a seven-course meal, normally includes an appetizer, soup, pasta, fish, meat with a salad, dessert, and finally tea or coffee. In Switzerland, the main meal is also eaten in the middle of the day, and usually contains a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits, the Swiss and Austria generally eat meat only two or three times a week.
Many nutritionists suggest that people eat small, low-fat meals five or six times a day. Most agree, however, that good nutrition and what you eat is more important than when you eat it. Keeping to a balanced diet of nutritious, low-calorie foods like vegetables, whole grains, fish, and fresh fruit is the way to enjoy a good life.
79. According to this passage, which country has the least healthy eating habits?
A. Mexico B. The United States C. Switzerland D. Austria 80. In Mexico, the main meal probably ______
A. ends with dessert B. finishes around 2:00 PM C. lasts a long time D. is rather simple
81. What kind of food is not necessary for a person to eat every day according to nutritionist?
A. meat B. vegetables C. fruits D. cereal
C
It’s difficult to decide what proper tip (小费) should be given in any country. Asia, with its various cultures and customs, is particularly difficult. To make your next trip a little easier, here’s a guide to tipping.
Bangkok: In general, the more westernized (西方化的) the place is, the more likely you’ll be expected to leave a tip. Some top-end restaurants will add a 10%, service charge to the bill. If you’re staying at one of Bangkok’s many five-star restaurants, you’re expected to tip the porter
(门童) 20 to 50 baht (泰铢), depending on how many bags you have. If you’re in a taxi, local custom is to round the final fare up to the nearest multiple (倍数) of 5 baht.
Hong Kong: Different from the rest of China, tipping is common in this money-mad modern city. Most restaurants automatically add a 10% service charge to the bill. If the service is good, add another 10% to the bill, up to HK$100 in an especially nice restaurant. For hotel porters, HK$10 should do it at all, but in the nicest hotels HK$20 may be more acceptable.
Seoul: Tipping is not part of Korean culture, although it has become a matter of course in international hotels where a 10% service charge is often added. Normally you don’t have to add anything extra, but if you are at a top-end hotel, you’re expected to pay the porter 500-1,000 won (韩元) per bag. Taxi drivers don’t expect a tip. Keep the change for yourself.
Taipei: Like Japan and China, Taiwan is not a tipping society. Tipping is not expected in restaurants. However, that rule is changing as American-style restaurants introduce western ways. Hotel staff and taxi drivers won’t be angry if you don’t tip.
82. According to the passage, why is it very difficult to tip in Asian countries?
A. Because there are different cultures and customs. B. Because Asian countries are not tipping societies. C. Because most Asian countries are not rich.
D. Because Asia is just like any country in the west.
83. If you take a taxi and the fare is 27 baht in Bangkok, how much should you actually pay?
A. 27 baht B. 30 baht C. 35 baht D. 37 baht 84. According to the passage, which of the following statements is NOT true?
A. You don’t need to tip in every Asian country.
B. Tipping is often expected in westernized occasions.
C.The custom of tipping means a better and more friendly society. D. Tipping skills in Hong Kong are not useful in other parts of China. 85. The article may probably come from ______.
A. a television news program B. a geography lesson C. a newspaper on politics D. a magazine about traveling

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。
The last thing you want is a bad grade on a paper that took a lot of hard work and time. 86 To be successful in school, you have to make sure you know what assignments you’re supposed to complete. And know exactly how and when you’re expected to complete each assignment. So, you need to talk with the teacher. 87
You don’t have to become a person who looks stupid and follows the teacher around. 88 However, you should check in with your teacher every time he or she assigns a project that is new or unfamiliar.
You should also communicate with your teacher if you receive a poor grade unexpectedly. Teachers are humans, and they make mistakes. 89 Be polite. Your teacher will explain (and maybe appreciate the opportunity to fix any potential mistakes).
90 On view day, pay attention and ask if there are any themes or patterns that are covered during the test period. Ask the teacher to explain any terms or exercises that aren’t
absolutely clear to you.
A. What a nightmare!
B. But when should you talk to a teacher?
C. If the teacher provides an email address, use it often!
D. Don’t be a pest, and don’t call your teacher after dinnertime. E. You don’t have to speak to the teacher at the end of every class. F. If you don’t understand why your grade is low, go ask!
