Part I Read the following passage aloud. Part II. TOPIC Caring for Our Earth
Section One Each of the students will be asked one question on the topic “Caring for Our Earth”.
1. What types of energy are popular in your country? For example, coal, gas, nuclear power. What does your house or apartment use?
//In our country, we use three main types of energy. for example, we use coal or electricity to cook,
and we use solar energy to heat up water.
2. Does your community offer a recycling program? Do you think recycling is an important service for communities to provide? Why or why not?
//No. yes.
The environment around my hometown is very dirty. I think that the main cause is that we haven’t
paid attention to the recycling program. If we had the program, I think every one in my hometown would protect the environment, the condition will be better than now.
3. In your opinion, what can cities like Beijing and Qingdao do to improve their air quality?
first of all, we can go to work or school just by bike instead of by cars. In the second place, some electricial devices like air-conditoner should be limited to use in our daily life to improve our air pollution conditions. Last but not least, we can plant more trees.
4. How are products packaged in our country? For example, how do you usually buy milk, electronic equipment and clothing? Are they good for our earth? Why or why not?
excessive packaging. For example, I usually buy things that are famous and packaged smartly.
No. As far as I am concerned, excessive packaging not only creates waste of resources, but also causes unnecessary environment pollution, so although we love beautiful things we should try our best to eliminate this phenomenon completely.
5. Do you agree that our country will be short of fresh water in the future? Why or why not?
//YES. As we all know, Water pollution is a major problem in the world. It has been suggested that it is the
leading worldwide cause of deaths and diseases,90% of China's cities suffer from some degree of water pollution, and nearly 500 million people lack access to safe drinking water. If we continue to ignore that issue, we all will be short of water sooner or later.
6. What should be done in order to prevent the climate change?
1、 we can go to work or school just by bike instead of by cars.. This minimizes the amount of greenhouse gases put into the air by a car.
2、some electricial devices like air-conditoner should be limited to use in our daily life. This helps our
planet out a lot.
3、 Plant trees and recycle . If we pay attention to recycling, less trash will get burned. As a result,
there are fewer greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere.
Section Two Please have a group discussion on the following topic: Global warming may be the most harmful environmental problem human
beings have created. Please discuss its causes, consequences and what we can do to reduce it.
Causes:
The largest contributing source of greenhouse gas is the burning of fossil fuels.
For example, there are more and more cars and household appliances .They discharge too much carbon dioxide into air. That leading to Global warming Consequences:
1. we felt that the climate has been getting steadily warmer and warmer.
2. Places which used to be abundant in snowfall have frequently experienced snowfree(无雪的) winters. 3. Drought干旱 lasts longer in some dry areas.
4. People find that without air conditioners they could hardly work or fall asleep on hotter summer days. 5. A warmer global climate melts the ice caps, raising sea levels.
6. What is more, it disturbs weather patterns, causing, severe storms, hurricanes .
what we can do:
People are doing many things to try to stop global warming.
1、we can go to work or school just by bike instead of by cars.. This minimizes the amount of greenhouse gases put into the air by a car. 2、some electricial devices like air-conditoner should be limited to use in our daily life. This helps our planet out a lot.
3、 Plant trees and recycle . If we pay attention to recycling, less trash will get burned. As a result, there are fewer greenhouse gasses in our atmosphere.
