My Favorite Fairy Tale
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a brave and kind-hearted girl named Ella. Unlike the stuck-up princesses in many fairy tales, Ella was a hardworking young lady who dreamed of one day opening her own business. She spent her days cleaning the house and cooking meals for her wicked stepmother and two awful stepsisters. Despite their cruelty towards her, Ella never lost her sunny disposition and gentle spirit.
My favorite fairy tale of all time is the timeless classic, Cinderella. I just love everything about this story! The beautiful gowns, the magical pumpkin carriage, the handsome prince, and of course, the incredible rags-to-riches tale of Ella herself. What girl doesn't dream of going from sleeping next to the cinders to dancing the night away at a grand royal ball?
The story begins with Ella living a life of drudgery under the control of her evil stepfamily. While her stepsisters spent their days lounging about and primping, poor Ella was forced to cook, clean, sew, and wait on them hand and foot from dawn until dusk. No matter how hard she worked or how kind she was, her
stepmother and stepsisters mocked and mistreated her. I felt so bad for Ella having to endure such injustice and cruelty! If I had been there, I would have totally stood up for her.
One day, a grand ball was announced at the royal palace. The prince was looking for a bride, and all the young ladies in the kingdom were invited to attend. Naturally, Ella's stepsisters were absolutely giddy with excitement over the prospect of meeting and marrying the prince. However, when Ella meekly asked if she could go too, her stepmother cruelly laughed in her face. She set Ella an impossible task – sorting through a enormous pile of lentils that had been thrown into the ashes. If Ella could
complete the task by the time her stepfamily left for the ball, she could go. Of course, it was a trick designed to keep Ella from attending.
Just when all hope seemed lost, some friendly birds flew in to help Ella sort the lentils! With their aid, she finished the task in the nick of time. Her stepmother begrudgingly had to allow her to attend the ball, but she was forbidden from going until she had found something suitable to wear. Once again, Ella's kindness paid off when her friends the mice brought her a beautiful dress made of cloud-soft satin and delicate lace. She looked like a true princess!
As Ella arrived at the ball in a magical pumpkin carriage drawn by horses (formerly mice!), everyone's eyes were upon her. She was by far the most beautiful lady present. Even the prince himself was awestruck when he first laid eyes on the mysterious girl in the gorgeous gown. For once, Ella was treated like the princess she was as she danced the night away with the prince. However, because of the trickery of her wicked stepmother, Ella was forced to leave the ball at the stroke of midnight before the magic ran out. In her haste, she lost one of her glass slippers on the steps of the palace. The prince tried desperately to follow her, but she seemingly vanished into the night. All he had left of his dream girl was a single glass slipper.
In the days that followed, the prince searched high and low for the owner of the slipper, determined to make her his bride. Every young woman in the land tried to cram their feet into the dainty shoe, but none could make it fit. Finally, when all hope seemed lost once more, the prince's servants arrived at Ella's humble cottage. To the stepsisters' horror and dismay, the glass slipper fit Ella's foot perfectly! She was whisked away to the palace to become the prince's wife and rule over the kingdom by his side.
There are so many things I love about the story of Cinderella. First of all, I adore the themes of kindness, courage, hope, and resilience in the face of adversity. No matter how awfully she is treated by her stepfamily, Ella never loses her beautiful spirit or giving heart. She befriends the mice and birds, and they become her loyal companions. When all seems hopeless, Ella's friends help make her dreams come true through good deeds and magic. It shows that being a good person, even when life is cruel, is the most important thing.
I also love the \"rags to riches\" storyline where Ella goes from being an overworked servant to becoming a beloved princess and future queen. Who doesn't dream of going from having nothing to gaining incredible wealth, power, and status? It's such a classic underdog story that reminds us all that our
circumstances can change in an instant if we keep faith and hope alive.
Additionally, the magic, romance, and beautiful visuals make Cinderella an enchanting fairytale world to escape into. I've watched every movie adaptation, and I'm always mesmerized by the elaborate ball gowns, the breathtaking pumpkin carriage, and the dazzling magic of the fairy godmother. The dancing scenes between Cinderella and the prince are so romantic and
dreamy. Every young girl wants to be swept off her feet by a dashing prince at a lavish royal ball!
Most of all though, I'm inspired by Cinderella's quiet strength, unshakable spirit, and unwavering goodness. Despite her hard life of labor and mistreatment, she never becomes bitter, resentful, or cruel in return. She simply endures with grace, kindness, and humility. To me, those are the qualities of a true hero and role model. Cinderella teaches us that outward appearances mean nothing – it's what's inside that really counts. In the end, by staying true to her heart and herself, Cinderella is rewarded with riches beyond her wildest dreams. Not only does she gain freedom from her life of servitude, but she finds true love and becomes a beloved leader of her people. What young girl wouldn't dream of having such an incredible \"happily ever after\" ending?
Though I'm now 11 years old and in 6th grade, I have loved the story of Cinderella ever since I was a little kid. I don't think I'll ever outgrow this timeless fairytale or stop seeing the magic and wonder in Ella's journey. Her tale of rising up against all odds through hope, courage, and the power of kindness will always hold a special place in my heart. Fairytales like this one remind us that amazing things can happen, even in the darkest of times, as
long as we stay true to ourselves and keep dreaming. Isn't that what childhood is all about?
