To demand Ss to hear and speak these sentences correctly:

I want to buy a dress for my wife.

The yellow one is nicer than the blue one.

tape recorder ; some cards

III.Teaching steps :                                     

Step 1 Warm-up/ Review

1.Free talk: What will you do for your mother on Mother’s Day?

Will you give her some flowers?

Will you do some shopping for her?

What will you buy?

What color is it?

What’s your mother’s favorite color?

2.Review: tall-taller, long-longer, short- shorter, big-bigger, small-smaller, nice-nicer

Step 2 Learn to say

T: Mother’s Day is coming. They are going to buy some presents for their mom. Now they are in the shopping center. What are they going to buy?

Sentence: The yellow one is nicer than the blue one.

word: wife

Let students listen to the tape and tick or cross:

Sally’s dad wants to buy a dress for Sally. T  F

The yellow dress is nicer than the blue one. T  F

Sally’s mom doesn’t like yellow color.  T  F

They’ll buy a yellow dress. T  F

Step 3 Practice

Ask the Ss to look and say with the teacher

Divide the Ss into two groups to act out the two dialogs

Ask two Ss to act out the dialogs for some times .

Step 4 Look and say

Listen to the tape & look at the English books and point to the pictures.

Listen to the tape again & repeat.

Step 5 Listen and circle the right answer.

Learn to write.

Step 6 Homework

Listen to the tape & repeat for some times .

Finish off the activity book of this Lesson .
